Obituary: Robert L. Cobb (93) of Barstow, California, died suddenly on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. He was born to Rachel and Harry Lee Cobb on July 15, 1931, in Cincinnati, OH. He graduated from Bellevue H.S., Bellevue, KY in 1948 and later received a bachelor’s degree from Selman P. College in Cincinnati, OH. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean war as an airplane mechanic. Afterwards he served as a Lead Supervisor at the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow, CA., until he retired at age 56. Once retired he volunteered for over 20 years at the Senior Center in Barstow, where he served on the hot food line. He had a life-long passion for building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. Robert was preceded in death by both of his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 49 years, Freda (nee Miller); a sister, Sue Hoffmann; his four children: Robert Cobb II, James Cobb, Melissa Cobb-Carneiro and Brian Cobb. He was also a devoted and much-loved stepfather to Elizabeth Rincon, William Foster, Chris Reynolds, and Lynda Rosas. Robert had 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Robert will be remembered as a kind person with a gentle spirit. Services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery, 22596 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA. A reception will follow at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, 1301 E. Mt. View in Barstow. Dress is casual. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
