Our Heavenly Father received our baby girl in to His hands on May 3rd, 2015. Lauren Gabrielle Chavira was born on January 25th, 1997 in Victorville, California. Lauren had a passion for softball that began at the age of 6. She played for Barstow Little League Softball for 10 years. Her most memorable year was in 2012 where she helped lead the senior division girls to a victory to win the section 8 championship where she pitched a perfect 6th and 7th innings striking out each batter to close and win the game. As competitive and determined she was in her love for softball she applied that same competitiveness into her new passion for academics. Lauren attended local schools and simultaneously in her 2015 senior year attended Barstow High School and Barstow College where she was in the Barstow High School Transitional College Program. Her favorite class this year was AP Statistics with Mr. E and of course her history courses with Mr. Duarte. There are too many faculty and staff at Barstow High School to mention that she loved and who loved her but her genuine love for her principal Mr. Delton was often spoken about in our home. She recently received the 2014 Barstow Community Recognition Award on March 28th, 2015 for Barstow High School Student of the Year. Lauren always wanted to make a difference in peoples’ lives with one of her many goals being to get a BA in Nursing then later go on to medical school to become an OBGYN. Lauren leaves behind her cherished grandparents, Louie and Paula Mata, Grandma Lorraine Chavira, Grandpa Thomas Chavira Sr. and wife Patricia, Great Grandma Sarah Chavira and Great Grandma Jenny Sanchez (GG) and her loving parents Thomas Jr. and Olivia Chavira and beautiful sisters Olivia (Nene) and Alyssa Chavira and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday May 11th, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Barstow. Family and friend time begins at 10am and the service at 11am. Burial will be at Mt View Memorial Park with a reception following at First Baptist’s Fellowship Hall.
