Elia B. Romero

ELIA (Ella) Baca ROMERO, passed peacefully on December 10th, 2022. Ella was born on November 22, 1922 in La Joya, New Mexico and had just celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends. She was a Barstow resident for 78 years and retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in 1984.

Ella was preceded in death by her husband Alonzo G. Romero in 1991. She was the last surviving member of her family having lost her younger brother, Emilio Baca, just five days prior on December 5, 2022.

Ella is survived by her four children and their families. Archie Romero of Henderson, NV; Mickey Mundy of Henderson, NV; Delane Romero-Jones of Helendale, CA; and Michael Romero of Gray, TN. She was a proud grandmother of nine; great-grandmother of ten; and great-great grandmother of seven.

She will be remembered for her tenacity in wanting to make it to 100 years old and for the way she found humor in everyday life. She never wanted to miss out on anything and loved dancing and spending time with her family, especially at the beach.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mead Mortuary. 36930 Irwin Road, Barstow, CA 92311

Mass will be celebrated at St Joseph’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. 505 E. Mountain View St. Barstow, CA 92311. Followed by burial at Mountain View Memorial Park. 37067 Irwin Road Barstow, CA 92311.
