Douglas worked as a glazier from 1957 to 1970, drove a delivery truck for W.A. Thompson Distributing from 1970 to 1980, and then was a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic at MCLB Barstow from 1981 through his eventual retirement in 2001. He filled his time with golf, archery, and hunting.
Douglas met Gerry in 1964 and two years later they were married in Las Vegas, NV.
Douglas was an outgoing, friendly man and never met a stranger. He was a member of San Bernardino Scottish Rite, Al Malaikah Shriners, a 55 year member of Barstow/Boron Masonic Lodge #682, and a lifetime member of the Benevolent Order of Elks.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 56 years Gerry, his daughter Kimberly Sappington of Ridgecrest, CA, and four grandchildren: Holly and Hillary Brown of Orange, CA, Jared Brown of Magnolia, TX, and Kyle Sappington of Ridgecrest, CA.
Private services will be held.
