We honor the life and memory of Jean Paul Ricard, who passed away on August 25, 2024, at the age of 81. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born in Opasatika, Ontario, on July 1, 1943, Jean Paul was the 7th child of Henri Ricard and Rose Marie Pelland. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Ricard; sons, Jim Ricard and John Ricard; daughter-in-law, Michele Ricard; granddaughters, Chantele Montgomery and her husband, Sheamus Montgomery, and Cheyenne Sundberg and her husband, Gregory Sundberg; great-grandchildren, Cormac (Mack) Montgomery, Nolan Montgomery, and Maisie Montgomery; and siblings, Gil, Cecile, and Raymond. He was predeceased by his brothers, Larry, Fern, and Julian, and his sister, Julie.
Jean Paul, known in the music world as Johnny Rick, was celebrated for his diverse artistic talents, including painting and woodworking, but he was most renowned for his deep passion for music. A gifted songwriter and musician, he composed original pieces and brought them to life through captivating performances on various instruments. In addition to his musical pursuits, he was deeply committed to ministry and spreading the gospel, dedicating much of his life to uplifting others through his faith and service.
He brought immense light and joy to his grandchildren, creating great memories filled with warmth and love.
A service to celebrate Jean Paul's life will be held at Rose Garden Chapel, Barrhead, Alberta, on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time (MT). The service will be available in-person and online.
