Dave was born in Rich Valley May 22, 1921 and was the second son in a family of 8. He is survived by 2 of his sisters, Rita Ketch and Elsie Charyna and 2 sister in laws Juanita and Elaine Ostrom and 1 brother in law Adrien Smith all of whom live in B.C. He spent the majority of his life within 1 mile of his birthplace. He enjoyed telling stories of his adventures working up North on the DEW-line in the late 1940s. Dave liked to play cards, fish, hunt and throw horseshoes. His real passion was farming alongside his wife Beatrice and together they raised a family of seven children. And although at times “it was tough sledding” his words, he never wanted a different life. At times he would take camp jobs in the winter to help make ends meet. They both were faithful Catholics and supportive neighbors to other farming families and to anyone who needed a hand up. Most holiday dinners included not only their kids, and grandkids but always at least one other couple or family who needed someone to celebrate with.
The family would like to thank all those relatives, neighbors and friends who stopped by for a game of crib or to say “hi” to him in his final years. We would also like to give special thanks to the Staff at Shepherd’s Care in Barrhead, where he lived out his final years. Due to covid 19 we will be holding a celebration of dad’s life at a later date.
