Mrs. Ruby Magdalene Smith age 89 of Girdler, Ky departed this life on Saturday, May 28, 2016 in the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was born on April 6, 1927 in Knox Co. the daughter of John C. Stacy and Effie Creasy Stacy. Ruby united in marriage with Lloyd T. Smith on July 1, 1950 and to this union eight children were born. Her husband preceded her in death on January 11, 1969. Mrs. Smith had been a cook at the Girdler Elementary School for twenty seven years. She was a member of the Girdler Church of God. She loved her church and her family and most of all her grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by one son Terry Wayne Smith, a granddaughter, Jessica Guaderjo and a great granddaughter, Hailey Guaderjo, one brother Norton Stacy and two sisters, Marcella Stevens and Annette Bowden.
Left behind to mourn her passing, five daughters, Linda Shupe and husband Earl of Girdler, Mary Hibbard of New Tazewell, TN, Sherry Smith of Girdler and Patricia Carter and husband Lee of Arjay, KY and Drucilla Smith and husband Butch of Dallas, Texas. , two sons, Lloyd Smith Jr. and wife Tammy of Walker Park and Stacy Smith of Girdler, nineteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, one brother, J.C. Stacy and two sisters, Ruth Brown and Joyce Smith. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Magdalene Smith will be conducted on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.C. Stacy and Reg. Greg Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in the Stacy Cemetery at Girdler, KY. Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. Smith, Shannon Smith, Michael Shupe, Tommy Smith, Jathan Shupe, Brandon Shupe, Byron Carter, Timothy Smith, Brian Chadwell, Lonnie Wilson, Joseph Maggard and Todd Brown. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m.
