Mr. R.C. Smith, age 77 of Barbourville, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 in the St. Joseph Hospital in London. He was the son of the late Chester and America Smith, born to them on December 23, 1937 in Knox County, Kentucky. He was a farmer and a coal miner. On March 23, 1957, he united in marriage to Anna Lee Smith and to this union, four children were born.
Along with his parent’s he was preceded in death by one sister, Ada Hubbard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Lee Smith of Barbourville: One daughter, Betty Smith Miracle and husband Mike of Cannon, Kentucky: Three sons; Harlan Smith and wife Tammy of Barbourville, Tolman Smith and wife Lisa of Barbourville, Cleveland Smith and Fiancée, Tangie Rogers of London: Four sisters, Bessie Smallwood, Alta Mills, Edith Mills all of New Salisbury, Indiana and Oda Taylor of Girdler: Eight grandchildren: Mary Ann Engle, Kim Hurst, Rodney Smith, Kendra Miracle, Ashley Bright, Travis Smith, Whitney Martin and Cody Mills: Five Great Grandchildren and a very special niece, Mary Etta and Husband J.L. Smith.
Funeral services for Mr. R.C. Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. David Dial and Rev. Harold Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvin Jordon Cemetery with Travis Smith, Rodney Smith, Kenneth Hurst, Brandon Bright, Tyler Mills, Lyde Engle, Gary Smith, J.L. Smith and Cody Mills serving as pallbearers.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday, March 21, 2015 after 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Sunday after 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 2:00 P.M. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
