Mary Ellen Walker

Mrs. Mary Ellen Walker age 87 of Barbourville departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in the Barbourville Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 8, 1928 in Artemus, KY the daughter of John & Nora (Gibson) Greene. Mary became a Christian as a young girl. She loved going to church, spending time with her family and quilting and gardening.

On October 13, 1951, she united in marriage with Aaron Walker and after twenty five years of marriage he preceded her in death on April 28, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John & Nora Greene, one brother, Andrew Greene and a special aunt and uncle Mary & Edd Senters with whom she lived several years as a young girl. She is also preceded in death by a special cousin that was like a sister to her, Carolyn Bennett.

Survivors include one brother Bill Victor Greene of Ohio, an aunt Shirley Evans of Somerset, KY, a step daughter, Margaret Goodin of Bimble, KY, step grandchildren, Yolanda Poppell of California, Patrick Goodinof Hazard, KY, Sandy Hicks and husband Stevie of Indiana, Letitia Merida and husband Tom of Bimble, Joe Goodin and wife Evelyn also of Bimble, Tony Goodin and wife Michelle of Daytona, Florida, step great grandchildren, Marla, Amber, Tabitha, Julie and Allie. She is also survived by a special cousin and his wife, Harold and Gerry Senters of Bryant Store, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Walker will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Sylvester Dunn officiating. Pallbearers will be family, friends and neighbors. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
