Mrs. Linda Sue Mills age 59 of Cannon, KY departed this life on Thursday, September 05, 2013 at her home. She was the daughter of Ellis and Nancy (Hammons) Messer born to them on May 24, 1954 in Knox Co.
On December 2, 1971 she united in marriage with Clifford Mills and together they shared forty two wonderful years together. Linda was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and had attended there for over thirty years. She had worked at Warner’s in Barbourville for twenty five years and also at the Laurel Cookie Factory in London for twelve years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Nancy Messer, and one sister, Mitty Alice Messer.
She left behind to mourn her passing, her loving husband Clifford Mills of Cannon, a son Chris Farris of Richmond, seven brothers, Crit Messer and wife Helen of Cannon, Creed Messer and wife Virginia of Louisville, Tip Messer of Girdler, Bob Messer of Louisville, Floyd Messer and wife June of Girdler, Larry Messer and wife Marsha of Cannon, and Alvin Messer and wife Lois of Girdler, two sisters, Oma Mae Taylor and Joycelene Farris and husband John all of Girdler. She also leaves behind some special friends, Joan Smith, Betty Park, Ima Jule Messer and Raymond Wilson and the many other people who took time to come by and sit with her during her illness. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Sue Mills will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Lonnie Collett, Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Jimmy Lee officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of New Bethel Church. Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and neighbors, Dr. Jerry Woolum, Tri Co. Hospice nurses and staff and Knox Co. Home Health nurses and staff. Mrs. Mills will be laid to rest in the Callebs Creek Cemetery in Hinkle, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
The family has suggested that contributions be made to New Bethel Church in memory of Linda.
The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
