He was born in Pineville, KY on March 14, 1981. He was a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church and was a Sergeant in the Kentucky Army National Guard where he was a Human Resources NCO with HHC 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry.
Jonathan loved spending time with his family, especially his son Cameron, he enjoyed riding ATV’s with his friends and playing softball and basketball, was an avid Colt’s fan and loved watching UK and Notre Dame play.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted Stewart and Geneva and Kenneth Jackson and one uncle, Donald Roark.
Those left behind to mourn his passing, his mother, Loretta Roark of Barbourville and his father David Roark of Artemus, his long- time partner, Kayla Grubb of Rockholds, his son Cameron Easton Roark, a sister Liz Grubb and husband Paul of Barbourville, his grandmother, Ada Stewart of Bimble, KY, aunts, Glenda Schilt and husband Jim of Lily, Ruth Ann Knuckles and husband Joe of Barbourville and Vickie Jackson of Barbourville, uncles, Jerry Stewart and wife Tammy of Heidrick and Ike Roark of Barbourville, nieces and nephews, Cassidy West, Lindsey West and Dallas Merida, first cousins, Mark, Sarah, Tabatha, Luke, Adam, Jacob, Jaxon, Toni, Brittany and Kenny. He also leaves behind his partner Kayla’s parents, Ricky and Vickie Grubb and Kayla’s brother Tinsley Grubb. Jonathan also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Jonathan Roark will be conducted at the East Barbourville Baptist Church on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. James Vandy and Rev. Josh Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the KY Army National Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be all his softball buddies, Jake Knuckles, Brad Vandy, Cody Messer, Chuck Boyd, Chase Hamblin, Jonathan Broughton, Brian Hubbs, Jeff Hubbs, Chris Vanover, J.R. Warren, Brandon Grubb, Eddie Frazier, Eric Frederick, Tigger Logan and Terry Centers. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at East Barbourville Baptist Church on Friday evening after 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
