Bertha Gamble Smith

Mrs. Bertha (Gamble) Smith age 84 of Woolum, KY went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 08, 2011. She was the widow of Cecil Smith. She was born on September 7, 1927 in Fount, KY and was the daughter of James and Gessie (Messer) Gamble. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a long time member of the Horn Branch Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil Smith, her parents, James and Gessie Gamble, a grandson, Joshua Scott Smith and ten brothers & sisters, Charlie Gamble, Gilbert Gamble, Tom Gamble, Edna Wiggins, Laura Smith, America Tincher, Fannie Gamble, Odie Gamble, Lizzie Gamble and Gracie Gamble.

Left behind to mourn her passing is eight children, Loretta Mills and husband Shelby of Woolum, Glen Dale Smith and wife Rebecca of Woolum, Prudie Smith and husband Elvis of Gibbs, Hersel Smith and wife Kathy of Woolum, Leroy Smith and wife Patricia of Cannon, Carolyn Sizemore and husband Wesley of Manchester, Betty Mills and husband Ricky of Cannon and Nella Napier and husband Roger Moore of Gray, three sisters Lucy Smith of Cincinnati, Georgia Abner of Girdler and Nannie Grubb of Florida, sixteen grandchildren, Donna Gray, Gina Messer, Pamela Mills, Tonya Gibson, Casey Smith Shanna Mills, Kim Davisson, Eric Smith, Bridget Smith, Derick Smith, Melissa Grubb, Jared Sizemore, Marcie Mills, Jacob Mills, Jennifer Mills, Gregory Napier, thirteen great grandchildren, Hannah Gray, Rachel Gray, Kirsten Fuson, Madison Fuson, Khloe Mills, Shelby Tate Mills, Regan Messer, Lauren Messer, Brynlee Grubb, Landon Smith, Maggie Gibson and identical twin baby girls on the way. Mrs. Smith also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Robert Rice officiating. Pallbearers will be, Casey Smith, Eric Smith, Derick Smith, Jacob Mills, Jared Sizemore and Gregory Napier. Honorary pallbearers will be, all members of the Horn Branch Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith will be laid to rest in the Anderson Smith Cemetery at Woolum. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
