Patricia P Brannan died on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson, MD. Born April 7, 1934 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert J and Amedea D (Galvani) Parkhurst. Patricia is survived by her two daughters: Mary Kerry Craven (Matthew) of Baltimore, and Kathleen Honeck (Mark) of Durham, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Forbes (Allan) of Plymouth, MA. She is survived by two granddaughters: Aubrey Zinaich-Howell (Scott) of Durham, NC and Hillary C Honeck of Astoria, NY, and one grandson: Harper Craven, of Baltimore. One great-grandson, Redmond Thorne, resides in Durham, NC. Patricia was predeceased by her brother, Peter E Parkhurst (Pat) of Carver, MA, her son, Michael Collagan of Baltimore, MD, and her husband, William Brannan of Baltimore.
Raised in Plymouth Massachusetts, Patricia attended college at University of Massachusetts Amherst. She studied piano and was a concert pianist. In 1954 she married Robert B Collagan in Reno, Nevada where they lived for several years. In 1958 she and her family moved to Baltimore Maryland where she has resided since. In 1973, Patricia married William E Brannan who died in 1978. Bill was a Baltimore County Circuit Court judge.
She worked as the Assistant Reference Librarian at the University of Reno during her brief time in Nevada. She has also worked for: the Dean's office at Morgan State University, the Baltimore County Circuit Court, and the Baltimore County Office of Community Conservation, as a Disability Specialist.
Pat was an active member of many organizations and clubs with Baltimore County affiliations. She was secretary for The Baltimore County Commission on Women, President of Dollars & Sense Investment Club, Treasurer for the Moneywise Investment Club, and Vice President of the Charlesbrooke Community Association, and Chair of their Architectural & Environmental Committee. She resided in the Charlesbrooke Community for almost 40 years. She was the Recording Secretary for the Three Arts Club of Homeland and an active member for many years. She was also the Second Vice President for the Baltimore Opera Guild, a representative for the Greater Towson Community Council, and a member of the Baltimore County Mental Health Advisory Board, and the Baltimore Yacht Club. She was appointed as a Commissioner for the Baltimore County Commission on Aging by the County Executive, and served for 11 years.
Pat loved the beach, gardening, traveling, cooking and entertaining, playing bridge, the opera, going out to dinner, and knitting. She traveled to many places all over the world including Thailand, Australia, Mexico, and the country of her ancestry, Italy. She also organized many trips abroad for different groups and organizations. She will be missed greatly by her many dear friends and her family.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 14th, at Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home 3631 Falls Rd in Hampden, from 3-5 and 7-9. A funeral mass will be officiated by Father David John Paul Mott at St. Pius X Catholic Church on York Rd in Baltimore on Saturday, August 15th at 10:30AM. Private interment will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Plymouth, MA.
