Jean Elizabeth, 85, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, at Carroll County Hospital Center, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with an illness. Jean was born on October 13, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland to parents Harvey H. Booker and Lessie A. Wood-Booker. She graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1956. She then lived for 7 years in the Philippines as an Army wife. She later went on to work as a bank teller for Maryland National Bank for 20 years and Social Security Administration for 36 years.
She was a long-standing and faithful member of New Psalmist Baptist Church.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her kindness, generosity, and compassion. She was an avid reader especially of the Bible, listening to gospel music and Motown, doing puzzles, watching the game of tennis and Ravens Football, and getting manicures.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: Dorothy Booker, William “Chick” Booker, Eleanor Louis Booker-Rose, Robert Henry Booker, and Bernard Phillip Booker, Sr.
She is survived by her children: Cheryl Lynne Brown, Gilbert M. Brown, Jerilyn T. Brown, and Derrick E. Brown, her 2 grandchildren: Maalik S. Matthews, and Mikayla E. Brown, 1 daughter-in-law: Artilya Brown, 2 god-sons: John W. Rose, Jr and Roland "Donnie" Stewart and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
