Remington resident Clifton Charles Williams, Sr. , born July 16, 1922, passed away at Union Memorial Hospital on Feb. 19, 2016. Born and raised in Baltimore, Mr. Williams was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Shirley (née Kraut), his youngest son, Robert Stephen, and four siblings. He is survived by four other children: sons Clifton Jr. (and wife Cheryl), Kenneth, Donald (and wife Cathy), and daughter Victoria Hansard, daughter-in-law Ronda, five grandchildren: Stacey, Jason, Todd, Jennifer Hall and Allison Hansard, and 8 great grandchildren. As a young man Mr. Williams worked on a banana boat in the Caribbean before joining the U.S. Coast Guard where he patrolled the coast in Narragansett, RI and then served on an LSD in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Williams retired from the Baltimore City Fire Dept. after 33 years, working most of that time as Pump Operator, Engine 21 on Roland Ave. He was an avid golfer and bowler, enjoyed going to firefighter retiree meetings, followed by a few hands of poker, and sitting on his front porch to chat with those passing by. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Burgee Henss Seitz Funeral Home, Inc,3631 Falls Road, on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9, where funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday , 10:00am. Interment Private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Williams' memory to the Maryland SPCA.
