Raised five children: Sr. Christopher Marie Wagner, OSF (nee Loretta Florence), Kathleen Ann, Michael James, Walter Gerard, and Timothy Joseph. Grandmother to nine and Great-grandmother to eight.
Prior to her marriage, Catherine trained as a secretary, working for the president of Buck Glass Co. in Baltimore City. During her young adult years Catherine was active in the Archdiocesan Veteran Mission Crusade Unit under the patronage of the now St. Kateri Tekakwitha. The “Katie-Tekers”, including her future husband, Mike, formed a strong bond which has lasted many decades. She had also joined the Catholic Daughters of America, participating in their glee club shows which were performed at a variety of nursing homes.
Following her marriage, she devoted her time and energy to raising her five children. She offered her services to St. Anthony of Padua’s Elementary School as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide. In later years, Catherine returned to professional work as a specialize typist for Waverly Press. After retiring, Catherine volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital giving over 8,000 hours over the course of 25 years.
Family and friends remember her strong faith, quick intelligence, delightful sense of humor and steadfast faithfulness, giving herself to compassionate listening and prayerful support.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Miller-Dippel Funeral Home Inc., 6415 Belair Rd. Baltimore, MD 21206 on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 9215 Old Harford Rd. Baltimore, MD 21234. Interment Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
