Bakersfield – Walter W. Barker was born on May 24, 1929 in Moorpark, California. He passed away on May 11, 2024. He attended Bakersfield High School. He joined the Navy and served for four years. In 1950 he married Barbara Clippenger. She passed this year on March 6, 2024. They would have completed 74 years of marriage in April 2024.
Walter served as a firefighter for 27 years. Shortly after retiring from the Fire Department he began working at Wattenbargers and was there for 29 years.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, son Wayne and daughter Anna. He and Barbara will be greatly missed by his son Bruce Barker (Concha), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to his caretakers at St. Joseph's Home. And also appreciate the care provided by Hoffmann Hospice Services.
Both Walter Barker and Barbara Barker will be laid to rest at a graveside service held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:00 am at Hillcrest Memorial Park located at 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, California 93306.
