Vincent Sanchez, 84, was born on March 31, 1934 in Bakersfield, CA to Theodosia "TC" Contreras and John Sanchez. Born the 9th of 12 children, Vincent was brought up in a very loving and supportive family where his brothers and sisters worked together and took care of one another. During his youth Vincent attended Jefferson Elementary, Washington Junior High, and finally graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1953. He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958. Vincent later married his wife, Adeline, on July 2nd, 1960 and they remained happily married for over 57 years. He went on to work for the American National Insurance Company for over 25 years, as well as distributing the Los Angeles Times for over 30 years. He was also a florist as well as a hairdresser. One of his most proud moments was being blessed with 4 beautiful daughters and his legacy only grew from there. Vincent was a man of Catholic faith and had a very strong relationship with his lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Vincent is survived by his loving wife Adeline Sanchez; daughters Stephanie Sanchez, Valerie Gonzalez, and Rebecca Calderon; son-in-laws Robert Calderon and Bill Monroe. His grandchildren include Tyler Sanchez, Breanna Ceja and husband Christian Ceja, Savannah Monroe, Jacob Monroe, Haile Calderon, Aaron Gonzalez, and Jenna Calderon; as well as great grandchildren Adelina Ceja and Lexi Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his oldest daughter Andrea "Andi" Sanchez-Monroe.
Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary (9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Bakersfield, CA 93306) on Wednesday, April 18th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with the Rosary at 6:00pm. Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church (1515 Baker St. Bakersfield, CA 93305) on Thursday, April 19th at 10:00am with a graveside service to follow at Union Cemetery (730 Potomac Ave. Bakersfield, CA 93307.) Pallbearers include Robert Calderon, Bill Monroe, Tony Gonzalez, Tyler Sanchez, Jacob Monroe, Aaron Gonzalez, Humphrey Alvarez, and Randy Granado. A reception to celebrate the life of Vincent will be held at The Eagles Club (1718 17th St, Bakersfield, CA 93301) immediately following the funeral.
