Bakersfield Theresa Jones was born on February 7, 1926 in Bakersfield, California. She graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1943. She worked for Pacific Telephone in the 50's and 60's, Carousel Interiors in the 70's, and then worked alongside her husband, Ed Jones, as the owners and operators of Sam's Auto Parts and Machine Shop on South Union Avenue. She was the bookkeeper there until they sold the business in the 90's.
In retirement, she volunteered at the Guild House and traveled. Theresa loved the Guild House and the friends she made there. Her passion was always food and entertaining. Her other passion was her granddaughters and their children. Her great-grandchildren brought so much joy to her life.
Theresa was a very hard worker. She was always working to better herself and her family. She planned delicious meals, sewed beautiful clothing, knitted, crocheted, ceramics, and every kind of needlework. Our holidays were always a work of art. That was her love language, beautifully set tables and great food. Theresa's love of travel led to many family trips. She always wanted to go somewhere and discover something new.
She was preceded in death by husband George Ed Jones, daughter Patricia Orman, brother Joe Chidgey, sister Mary Emma Chidgey, and cousin Pauline Lewis.
Theresa is survived by her daughter Lisa Carter (Craig), granddaughters Kimberly Smith, and Courtney Bridges (Jeremiah), step-daughter Linda Reyburn Greer and her children,Terry Reyburn, Sean Reyburn, Robin Monroe, Brent Reyburn, Nicole Hoofard, Marc Reyburn, and grandson Brent Orman, as well as twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, located at 12300 Reina Road, on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10 am.
