Rose Marie Martinez-Sepulveda was born on February 16, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA to Victor and Frances (Flores) Martinez. Rose was one of 8 siblings: John, Ramona, Victor, Victor, Catalina, Rose, Frank and Ramona. The siblings all grew up on Mariposa Avenue. Rose was the first in her family to obtain her high school diploma from Los Angeles High School in 1964.
Rose had her only child, daughter Terrie, in 1966, whom she raised as a single parent. To give her daughter the best life she could, Rose requested formalized training to qualify her for full time work. She went to work as a Microfiche Operator with the Los Angeles Unified School District. She had a 30 year career with the school board and retired in 2005. She made many longstanding friendships during this time. In 1996, she married Jose A Sepulveda after several years of dating. Rose and Jose moved to Bakersfield, CA in 2005, following her retirement. She bought her first home in Bakersfield and made this her second home.
Rose has touched so many lives and will be missed by so many. She was always willing to provide support and be that helping hand when someone was in need.
She is survived by her husband Jose Sepulveda, her daughter Terrie and husband David Harris, Sister Catalina Sly and sister in law Donna Hurst. She also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews: Helen (Ricky Reed), Tony Martinez, Sharon (Dan Pfeifer), Diane (Michael Lionni, Nicole Martinez and Frances Sly. Godchildren, Roy “Corky” Guthrie and Ceara Hanks and numerous other great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends that she loved very much.
