Richard A. Lopez passed away peacefully on February, 6, 2022, in the hospital with his daughter by his side. He was 76 years old. He was born in Bakersfield on October 12, 1945 to Frank and Maggie Lopez. He worked in Shafter and Taft during his employment years. He lived in Shafter, Buttonwillow and Bakersfield, where he made many friends. He could make friends easily. He enjoyed BBQ's, music, dancing and spending time with family and friends. He loved going on trips to the beach. He had a passion for cars, especially old Chevy trucks from the fifties and enjoyed working on them. He had a love for animals. He enjoyed cooking and one of his specialties was making menudo, which he made with love and expertise. He received numerous compliments on his menudo. He would invite family and friends to come over and have a bowl of menudo with him. We will cherish the memories. He will be greatly missed by many of us.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Maggie; his siblings Domingo, Manuel, Bertha and Frances.
He is survived by his domestic partner Maria Zamora of Bakersfield; including four children; daughter Yvette Zucker of Bakersfield, son Richard Lopez of Los Osos, son Raul Zamora and wife Veronica of Shafter; and daughter Teresa Zamora of Bakersfield; ten grandchildren, Richard Lopez, Krista Zucker, Shane Lopez, Ashley Karns, Vivianna Perez, Christopher Zamora, Gizelle Zamora, Jazanna Zamora, Melody Zamora and Zaylene Zamora; four great grandchildren; Devanie Lopez, Jase Karns, Aianna Karns and Estella Perez; brother Frankie Lopez and sister Cecelia Ornelas; Uncle Lucio Lopez and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation for Richard will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
