Raymond was born in Bakersfield to Raymond and Grace Ortiz, the fifth of ten children. He attended Arvin High School and graduated from East Bakersfield High School. He enjoyed football, basketball, baseball and running. After high school, he earned a carpentry certificate and built Valley Cabinet Company. He was a successful cabinet maker for 50 years. In the recent years he loved taking short trips, watching his grandchildren’s activities, and watching the UCLA Bruins and professional tennis. He was a loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Francis Church, 900 H St., Bakersfield on June 2. The Rosary will be at 9:30 A.M, with the Mass to follow at 10:00 A.M.
