Michael Frederick Peterson

Michael was born on February 7, 1952 in Coalinga, CA to Frederick and Rebecca Peterson (Fletcher). He was found to have passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 26, 2019. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Frederick H. Peterson and survived by his mother, Rebecca June Peterson (Fletcher), sister Kathleen Peterson (David Pantoja) of Hesperia, CA, two nieces, Raquel Blevins and Brandi Mozur (Justin) both of Nevada, four great nieces and one great nephew. Along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Michael graduated from Coalinga High School in 1971 and Bakersfield City College with an A.S. degree. Michael was fascinated by anything electronic even as a child and would take apart things to see how they worked, at the frustration of his parents. He worked in Electrical/Electronics and communication with multiple organizations, i.e. Chevron Oil, Western Union, AT&T, DoD, Cottage Hospital to name a few and was an instructor and student at Cuesta College, Cal Poly, and ITT Tech.

Michael was involved in Amateur Radio and was an operator with the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service and Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL), the National Association for amateur radio.

Michael was a member of the Grover Beach Grange. He was also a member and very involved in the Assembly of God Living Waters Church in Grover Beach which joined with Life Point Church in Arroyo Grande until his health began to fail.

Michael was very loving and caring. He moved in with his mother and father and helped his mother and ailing father with whatever needed doing. He took a young man under his wing and tried to help him out of his troubled ways which led to him becoming a father figure to the young man’s girlfriend (Kelly) and her children.

A memorial service was held at Life Point Church, 207 Pilgrim Way, Arroyo Grande, CA on August 31, 2019. A graveside service will be held in conjunction with his mother, Rebecca June Peterson, on September 23, 2022 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, CA 93306 at 11 a.m. A reception is planned at Courtyard by Marriott, 3601 Marriott Dr., Bakersfield, CA, 93308.
