Lydia Abidayo was born to Angel and Catalina Marcos in Ilocos Norte, Philippines on September 17, 1949. She had eight siblings: McArthur Marcos, Alfonso Marcos, Mauro Marcos, Marcela Marcos, Justina Agbayani, Marina Agpaoa, Estrella Torzar, and Generosa Ubay.
Lydia lived a life of serving others. She worked as a healthcare professional dedicated to those in need at hospitals and eventually caught the entrepreneur bug and opened her own assisted living facility for the elderly – Jasmine Care Home which served the community for 19 years. She loved being surrounded by her family, cooking, and had a green thumb - evident in her beautiful garden.
Lydia was a faithful servant of Jehovah God, in which she dedicated her life to him on August 10, 1996 by water baptism.
On April 17, 1978, she married her handsome husband Ambrocio Abidayo. The two began their family of seven in Bakersfield, California.
Lydia and Ambrocio had four daughters Hazel M. Carter, Mary Abidayo, Stacey Chan, and Jessica Abidayo and one son, Justin M. Abidayo. Lydia also had grandkids who he loved so much. Rusty Carter IV, Catalina Carter, Hali’a Carter, and Brixtyn Cobb.
Lydia was a dedicated woman who always put the comfort and happiness of others around her as a priority. All those who knew her will always remember the constant Filipino dinners and lunches at her home, her generosity, and her service and dedication to her God. Lydia was a firm believer in the resurrection hope as highlighted in Revelation 21:3,4 where it reminds us, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” We long for the day that will be reunited with our dear loved one Lydia Abidayo when she returns to life in a beautiful paradise that Jehovah has promised.
She is survived by her kids Hazel Carter, Mary Abidayo, Stacey Chan, Jessica Abidayo, and Justin Abidayo, and her sisters Marcela Marcos, Justina Agbayani, Estrella Torzar, Generosa Ubay, and Marina Agpaoa. She also survived by her grandkids Rusty Carter IV, Catalina Carter, Hali’a Carter, and Brixtyn Cobb.
On behalf of the Abidayo family, we thank you all for your continued support and love during these hard times.
