Linda was born in Bakersfield, Ca. to parents Zona (Toni) Taylor and Charles Henry (Buddy) Braughton on November 26, 1959. She passed away peacefully in her sleep due to natural causes on August 18, 2014.
Linda was a graduate from Arvin High School in 1977. She was married for 25 years. Linda became an RDA and managed three dental offices. In 1998 she became a Realtor, and began her career. Linda, joined the Bakersfield Association of Realtors in 1998 under Prudential America West, (now known as Coldwell Banker). She has also worked with Walters & Associates and was most recently with Changing Places Real Estate. Real Estate was an excellent career choice for Linda as she loved people.
Over the years, Linda was active serving on numerous committees including Education, Centennial Task Force, Grievance, R.gov, Attendance and Reception and Political Fundraising. Linda's passion for Education, in particular, was demonstrated by her dedication and commitment to serving as a GRI class monitor after obtaining her GRI designation in 2001. She graciously gave many hours and days supporting and encouraging other members to also achieve this important designation.
She had a heart of gold and a happy and fun-loving personality. You always knew when Linda came into a room, always with a beautiful smile and sunny disposition. Her love for children and animals was enormous as her vivacious personality. She was very proud of her Choctaw Indian heritage. Although she had no children of her own she was the best Auntie Linda to her nephews and nieces and all her friends kids. She is survived by her mother and step-father Toni and Bob Taylor; her father and step-mother Buddy and Donna Braughton; her sister Robin Penney and husband Jim their sons, Joseph Penney and Derrick and his wife Callie their daughters, Kaylin and Aubry Penney; brother, John Braughton and wife Michelle and their children, Danielle and Joshua Braughton; step-sister, Kathy Barahona and husband Juver and their children, Michael Bullard, Brittany Bullard, Christopher and Alexis along with many aunts, uncles and other close relatives who lover her dearly.
