Lige Hudson, affectionately known as Sam to many, left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Born November 28, 1941, into the loving arms of Morgan Hudson and Anna Miller, both of whom have predeceased him, Sam lived a life characterized by warmth, friendship, and a deep love for his community. Sam went home to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 28, 2024.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Helen George, and his brothers, Jack and Lenny. Sam also leaves behind his beloved sons, Dale and Mark (Colleen) Hudson, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and family members. Additionally, he shared 25 wonderful years with his dedicated partner and companion, Sharon Smith. His loyal dog, Sugar, a sweet and fluffy white ball of joy, will also miss her cherished owner.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he received a Good Conduct Medal, a Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle), and a Mechanics Badge with bar for his exemplary service. After his military career, he retired from Oscar Mayer, where he spent many fulfilling years.
Known for his inventive spirit, Sam could often be found tinkering for hours, creating all sorts of unique inventions. His hobbies were many, but his greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends, sharing laughter, and, of course, giving everyone a good-natured hard time.
Sam will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for the love he shared and the memories he created. He touched the lives of countless neighbors and friends, earning their admiration and love in return. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Sam. You will be deeply missed.
