Preceded in death by his father John Wilson Jr., mother Lola Wilson, and brother-in-law Kreig Loftin. Survived by his wife Tracy, son John Wilson IV, wife Christine, Daughter Shana Wagner, husband Mason, and 6 grandchildren: Carly, Micah, Everly, Emma, Clark and Cooper. Sister Lori Loftin and brother Dave Wilson.
John grew up in south Florida and graduated from South Plantation High School in 1980. John loved music and excelled in playing the Alto Saxophone. He was also 1st chair with the clarinet numerous times. During his senior year, John was the Drum major for his High School marching band. John studied Aerospace Engineering while attending North Carolina State University. On March 29, 1979 he completed his first solo flight and received his Private Pilot’s License. He loved flying and was just a few hours short from completing his Commercial Pilots License. John flew various single engine planes such as, Cessnas, Pipers, J-Cub and on one special occasion, Piloted the Goodyear Blimp Enterprise. He enjoyed woodworking and making various furniture for friends and family.
John and Tracy met while working at Pompano Air Center in South Florida in the early 1980’s. They fell in love and were married on June 15, 1985. In December 1989, as a family of four, they moved to Bakersfield Ca. John spent 32 years working in the cabinet industry and finished his career as head draftsman at Skyline Cabinet and Millworks in Bakersfield Ca. In 2004 John accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized shortly afterward surrounded by family and friends. John was a member of Rock Harbor Church. In 2021 John was placed on the Liver Transplant list, after 32 years of battling a rare liver disease. On November 26, 2022, the Lord called John home. He is now free from his suffering and pain and is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service for John will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
