As a young boy, Jerry lived in Dallas, Texas. He went to high school in Paradise, California. He served in the Air Force. After serving his country he began to work on aircrafts. His work brought him to Orange County, California where he worked at air radio, installing auto pilot systems. Then he began working for the Operating Engineers, first as a mechanic and welder, then as an operator on heavy equipment. In 2008, he was forced to retire due to health issues.
Jerry never met a stranger. He would talk to anyone no matter what their station or status was. He enjoyed cooking and Barbequing for friends and family. He was generous with his time and money; always helping people in need. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, Nascar, motorcycles, John Wayne movies, lighthouses and aircraft.
In 1966 he married his first wife, Linda. They had two sons together, a granddaughter and two grandsons. In 2009, he married Jeannie, adding four step children and numerous grandchildren to the family. He also took in his great-niece and great-nephew. He and Jeannie loved traveling together.
Jerry is preceded in death by his siblings, Etty, June, Jocko and Judy.
He is survived by his brother, John Wells (wife Lorie of Atascadero); wife, Jeannie Wells of Bakersfield; son, Trent Wells of Bakersfield, Troy Wells (wife Lyndace of Bakersfield); stepsons, Johnny and David Patty; stepdaughters, Donna Garrett and Vicky Patty; great-nephew, Josh Day; great-niece Maddy Day; granddaughter, Tayler Wells; grandsons, Ben and Brent Wells; numerous step-grandchildren, Nieces, nephews, family and friends.
