Janice Elizabeth Priddy was born on July 16, 1946, in Bakersfield, California to Iris and Joseph Priddy and went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on December 17, 2022.
Janice was the youngest child of Iris and Joseph and spent her early days following her three older siblings around the small community of DiGiorgio. Janice attended DiGiorgio Elementary where she learned to play the violin. A graduate of the Arvin High School class of 64, she was involved in Student Government and a member of the cheer squad. She especially loved cheering for her sweetheart, Richard Tucker, who she would later marry in August of 1966.
After marriage, Jan and Rick would welcome two children, Angela Tucker Rasmussen, and Richard Tucker Jr. Jan devoted much of her time to her children’s many school and athletic activities. She spent many hours at Norris Elementary supporting classroom and school events and served as PTC president in 1986 at North High School.
Jan loved the Lord and was a devout Christian. She was actively involved in the ministry of both Fruitvale Community and later RiverLakes Community Church and served on the hospitality team for the Women’s Fellowship group. During the summer, Jan held small Bible studies at the Tucker home for the neighborhood children. Jan enjoyed spending her free time at home gardening. She loved planting new flowers each season and meticulously trimming the surrounding plants and trees. Memories were created each summer by spending time on the June Lake Loop with family and friends. Jan, and her husband Rick, were able to spend time together traveling throughout the United States and many other countries. Granjannie was often heard cheering for her four adored grandchildren at their sporting events. Those that frequented her home were always greeted with the sounds of Christian music or Hallmark Christmas movies on the television.
Jan is survived by her daughter Angela Tucker Rasmussen (Bill), son Richard L. Tucker Jr. (Laurie), grandchildren Ashley Rasmussen, Emily Rasmussen, Kyler Tucker, and Brooklynn Tucker; siblings Barbara Lang, Gay DeTuncq, and David Priddy. Jan also leaves behind her three special friends, Ann Hallum, Cicci Heberle, and Juanita Gomez.
The Tucker family would like to thank the many caregivers that made mom feel special, loved, and safe during her last few years while battling Alzheimer’s.
An outdoor celebration of life will be held graveside at Hillcrest Memorial Park on January 4th at 11:30.
In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County.
