James Joseph Richardson AKA: Jim, Jimmy Joe April 15, 1927 - July 31, 2012 Jim died at the age of 85 in Bakersfield, California on July 31, 2012. He was a 34 year resident of Fresno, California. Jim was born on April 15, 1927 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was one of 9 brothers and sisters. Jim is preceded in death by Francis, Dan, Mike, Larna, and Baby Richardson, and survived by John (Sonny), Betty (Tootie), and Tom. He served his country proudly in World War II, in the Army Air Force, Squadron A, 200th Army Air Force Base Unit, as a gunner in missions over North Africa and Germany. Jim married Maurine Jenkins (Wells) on February 12, 1949 in Piggott, Arkansas, near their home town of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Maurine brought with her two children, Gary and Carol, into the marriage. Jim and his family moved to Bakersfield, California shortly after they were married and remained in Bakersfield until 1978 when they moved to Fresno, California. In addition to Gary and Carol, Jim and Maurine had a son, Ronnie Gene. Jim worked in many areas, from tugboat crewman, taxi driver, truck driver, tractor repairman, gas station attendant, and finished his professional life as salesman and manger in pipeline products. Jim enjoyed boating in Fresno area lakes and the California Delta, fishing, camping, and restoring his 1934 Ford Pick up. Jim is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maurine, and his sons Gary and Ronnie. He is survived by his daughter, Carol, her husband Steve, his two grandchildren, Christina and Jeffrey, and his five great- grandchildren: Stephen, DJ, Haley, James, and Nora. A family viewing will be held on Sunday, August 5th, from 4:00 to 5:00PM and a public viewing from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. Services will be held Monday, August 6th, 10:00AM with graveside at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. Jim's favorite charity was CALM ( California Living Museum) in Bakersfield, California.
