Hilda McCall

Hilda McCall passed away peacefully and surrounded by loving family on June 10, 2024. She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on December 12, 1942. She was the only daughter of Hilda and Mario Beauchamp. She had 3 brothers, Mario, William, and Edwin, who helped shape her into a strong and confident woman. She attended the Catholic University of Puerto Rico where she earned her teaching credential. She taught high school math until she moved to CA in the late 1960s to study at UCLA. While attending UCLA she met her husband Dale McCall. The two married on August 19, 1969 and had two daughters.

Hilda remained in CA. In 1992, she retired as a federal civilian employee of the defense department working in procurement and founded Immaculate Heart Board and Care, a home based facility to care for adults with mental illness. Over the years she provided many individuals with love, care, and compassion. She treated everyone she met like family. She was deeply committed to the well-being of her community. Her endless efforts resulted in neighborhood beautification projects, community health fairs, feeding the homeless events, and the opening of the Harbor Gateway Boys and Girl's Club. Her love for others was a natural extension of her deep and profound love for her savior Jesus Christ. She was an excellent spouse, mother, grandmother, friend, and community leader.

Hilda is survived by her brothers Mario and Edwin, as well as her daughters Adrienne and Elizabeth. Her remaining adoring family also includes her sons-in-law Ray and John, Grandchildren Robert and spouse Danielle, Ariana and spouse Christopher, David, Sage, Katerina, and Conner, and Great-grandchildren Alexander, Leighton, and Colson.

Funeral Services for Hilda will take place on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Bakersfield First Assembly, 4901 California Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93309. The closest cross streets to enter for her service and park on, are Marella and California Ave. Hilda's service will be located in the Blue Chapel with a Visitation from Noon-1:00 p.m. with Funeral Service starting at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service will follow immediately at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, California 93306. Hilda will be laid to rest in Living Christ Garden.
