Eric Paul Palmer, beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on January 31, 2024, in his hometown of Bakersfield, CA, at the age of 56. Eric was born on October 31, 1967, to Jerry Palmer and the late Cheryl Martin.
Eric was cherished by many for his outgoing personality and unwavering loyalty. His greatest joy was found in raising his three children, Salem, Lennox, and Bostyn. He shared a special bond with his father, Jerry, and treasured the time they spent together fishing and hunting. Eric's circle of friends, including Shawn Curtsinger, Chris Bailey and John Myers, and family, including his father Jerry, his wife Jill and his cousins Gloria Bigler, Justin Teague and Krystal Smith remained faithfully by his side throughout his life, especially during his final days.
Eric's adventurous spirit was evident from a young age. From his earlier years at Palmer Tank filling up work trucks after school to his love for BMX bicycle racing, motorcycles, and the punk rock music scene, he lived life to the fullest. Eric's enthusiasm for pranks, daredevil stunts, and mosh pits brought laughter and excitement to those around him. A talented and creative tattoo artist, Eric's career took him across the United States. He established his own tattoo business in Washington, D.C. before returning to Bakersfield, where he continued to leave his mark at Naked Al's and Mad Dog Tattoo. After marrying his wife, Jill, and welcoming their children into the world, Eric embraced the role of stay-at-home dad with pride and dedication.
Eric is survived by his wife, Jill Palmer, his children Salem, Lennox, and Bostyn Palmer, his father Jerry Palmer, his aunt Margaret Smith, his sisters Vickie Contreras, Kristi Martin, and Anastasia Devenport and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Martin, his grandfather, Gernie Palmer, his grandmother, Allie Palmer, and his uncle, Vernon Palmer.
In honor of Eric's memory, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest & Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield, CA. The viewing will take place from 12 PM to 1 PM, followed by a memorial service from 1 PM to 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to colon cancer research at the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Eric leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may be gone, his adventurous spirit and infectious laugh will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
