1928 - 2017
Ed was born in Bakersfield, California in 1928 to Frank and Clementine Ward. Ed joined the United States Navy in 1948 and served his country in the Korean War until 1952. In 1951, Ed married Mary Louise and they raised two children, Kathy and Bruce. Mary Louise preceded Ed in death in 1997.
Ed worked for Ridgefield Oil for 17 years. He then went to work for the County of Kern as a Surveyor and later transferred to the Building Inspection Department as a Building Inspector. He retired in 1997.
In 1999, Ed married Marilyn Hammons. They made their home in Bakersfield. They were members of First Baptist Church and later changed their membership to Valley Baptist Church. Ed loved the Lord and lived out his Christian faith and was always active in ministry.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Marilyn; his daughter Kathy (Keith) Ray; his son Bruce (Cindy) Ward; grandchildren Frank, Nicole, Justin, Brandon, Kaleb, Ryan; great-grandchildren Jacob, Mason, Jaime, Serena, Kayla, Eian, Destiny, Alexis. He is also survived by Marilyn's family; sister-in-law Annabel (Richard) Coop; daughter Sandy (Charles) Dibb; daughter Suzie (David) Lostaunau; grandchildren Tricia, Michael, Will, James, Alex, Charlie, Caroline, Adelaide; nieces Kristi Robles, Julie Schneider; great nieces and nephews Kaleigh, Lindsey, Logan, Cheyanne, Sarah, Ariana, Bijan, Caedyn, Cristina, Breyton.
A memorial service will be held on Friday August 25th at 11:30 a.m. at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Avenue, Bakersfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Valley Baptist Church
