Diana Lynn - wife, mother, Grammy, aunt and friend to many, was lost to this world on Sunday, April 14, 2019 after a long illness. She passed away at home with her family at her side.
Diana was born in Cottage Hospital, Oildale, CA to Henry Lloyd Pritchard and Lula Lee (Harvey) Pritchard on November 2, 1953. Diana loved children. After losing her mother at age ten, she helped her father raise her younger brother Mike and baby sister Sharon. She also spent many hours babysitting and caring for her numerous nieces and nephews until getting married and having her own children years later.
On March 7, 1971 she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Hoose and they were married on August 15, 1972. After William was discharged from the Air Force in 1975, they moved from Marysville, CA back to Bakersfield to raise their family. Diana and Bill had three children, Karen, Gerald and Bradley. Those children gave her three very special grandchildren in Ian, Ally and Gavin. Diana absolutely adored her grandchildren. Diana spent as much time as she could with all three grandchildren. She is extremely proud of grandson Ian who is currently at Fort Benning , Georgia and granddaughter Ally who is scheduled to leave for her third year of college on scholastic and soccer scholarships.
Diana loved her family and had a close relationship to both of her sisters and younger brother. She loved her many nieces and nephews as well as their entire families. She was especially close to her brother in law John Holland and forever grateful to him and older sister Janyce for the special relationship she, her brother Mike and sister Sharon shared with them from when her mother died to the present day.
Bill and Diana went into business together in the 70’s and formed Hoose News Service. As co-owners they handled the distribution of the Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Times and many other national publications throughout Bakersfield and Kern County for over 37 years. Diana enjoyed the regular contact with so many people throughout the community and the many friendships that were formed over the years.
As legal guardians of granddaughter Ally, Diana and Bill got involved in club soccer and ended up enjoying over ten years making countless new friends and watching many young women grow up. During those years they grew an entire new family of wonderful people and lifelong friends. Diana truly loved being involved with and helping the girls. She was known by all as Grammy.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents Henry Lloyd and Lula Lee, her brothers Larry Don, Tommy, Bobby and Harvey Pritchard, sisters in law Glenda, Barbara and Carol, her father-in law Earl Hoose, Mother-in law Mary Alice Hoose, brothers in law Michael and Patrick Hoose, as well as her nephew Jason Hoose. She is survived by her husband and best friend Bill, her daughter Karen (Hoose) Diosdado, her sons Gerald Hoose and Bradley Hoose, grandson Ian Hoose, granddaughter Alexandria (Ally) Diosdado, and grandson Gavin Hoose, her sister Janyce and husband John Holland, sister Sharon Pritchard, brother Mike Pritchard and countless adoring nephews, nieces, friends and acquaintances.
Diana was a prominent personality in the family, a role model to many and above all she loved everyone. She was a very giving and caring person. She could also be very stubborn and direct and be counted on to put us in our place when we stepped out of line. However, it was always done with love. Her presence will forever be with us. She will be greatly missed and ever in our hearts.
Diana went on ahead to meet Jesus on Sunday, April 14, 2019. We love you Diana, Mom (Grammy). You had a way of making us better people. Thank you for being ours. Please watch over all of us until we see you again in Heaven.
