Denny Lee Drummond was born in Columbiana, Ohio and attended David Anderson High School in Lisbon, Ohio. Denny is the son of Russell and Lucille Drummond and brother to Richard Rupp. After high school, Denny enlisted in the United States Navy. Denny proudly served his country for six and a half years where he attained the rank of E-5, Petty Officer Second Class, as a construction mechanic in the SeaBees. Denny was assigned to bases in Illinois, Virginia, Washington and California and aboard the USS Carl Vinson. While in the military Denny met and married the love of his life, Amy Evans. Amy blessed Denny with two wonderful boys, Dakota, age 17 and Riley, age 11.
In April 1998, Denny joined the California Highway Patrol. After graduating the CHP Academy, Denny was assigned to the Ventura Area then transferred to the Grapevine Inspection Facility and then finally, the Bakersfield Area. In addition to being a road patrol officer, Denny has worked numerous jobs including, commercial assignments, range officer, administration, training, vehicle inspector and drug recognition officer.
Denny is survived by his wife Amy, two sons, Dakota and Riley, brother Richard and mother Lucille. Denny was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many. Denny was all about family and putting his family and friends first before himself. Denny was always there if you needed a place to stay, a shoulder to lean on or just someone to listen. Denny was fun and outgoing and absolutely adored his kids. Denny loved music and was a musician at heart. He loved playing his guitar with Dakota. He helped coach youth football and enjoyed being outdoors. Denny was a wealthy man! Denny was wealthy with life and was surrounded with many people who loved and cared for him. “DD” you will be truly missed but we know you’re in a much better place where there is no more pain and suffering. You will always be in our hearts, we love you brother!
A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Friday, December 7, at 12 noon followed by a Memorial Service at Valley Baptist Church at 2pm.
