David Dunkin Hester

David Dunkin Hester November 30, 1920 - March 6, 2012 David left this world and went into the arms of his Heavenly Father on March 6, 2012. David was born on November 30, 1920 in Phillipsburg, Missouri, to Jennie and William Hester. He was the youngest of eleven children. David graduated from Phillipsburg High School and attended Bakersfield College. He later married Freda Stevens. They were married for 55 years until Freda's passing in 1995. Together they had two children, Jeanette and Darrel. They moved to Shafter, California in 1947 where David was employed by Superior Oil Company for 30 years retiring in 1978. He later worked as a foreman for Ingersoll Rand for 2 years. David loved attending church, traveling the world, fishing, and playing pool and cards with friends. In 2000 David married Rhea Parks, and they were married for 12 years. David leaves his beloved wife Rhea, his daughter Jeanette Strohecker and her husband Robert, of Palo Alto, California, his son Darrel Hester of San Jose, California; his grandson Michael Strohecker and Jing, and great- grandson Odin of Menlo Park, California. His grandson Greg Strohecker of San Francisco, California. Viewing will be held on Friday, March 9th, from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield. Graveside service will be held Saturday, March 10th, at 9:30am at Hillcrest with the memorial service to follow at 11:00am at Westside Church of Christ, 7300 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield.
