Cora was born on September 5,1934, to Bertha and Lawrence Flud in Oklahoma. When she was 3, her parents brought her to Bakersfield, CA, where she lived out the rest of her life. She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park on October 27, 2023 at 10:00 am, viewing the evening before from 4pm to 8pm.
And what a life it was! In 1953, she married Odell Levingston. They were married until his death in 2002.
Cora was a loving and loved person. Cora and Odell had five children, Sharon, Debbie, Tim, Laura and Kevin. She was active in the Rosedale School PTA. She began her working career in high school (although she did pick cotton and work in the fields with her parents), working at Vibe’s Market on Rosedale Highway, she later worked at the same market when it was Bogle’s Market, she became a server a few years later. She worked at the Casa Royale Motor Inn, the Golden Key Restaurant, Clark’s Broiler, Clark’s Catering, Westchester Bowl Coffee Shop, where she made many more friends. She then became the caterer at Mercy Hospital. Upon retiring from there, she worked at NOR Greenacres Community Center. She also volunteered at the VFW. After leaving there, she became involved in Grace Baptist Church. She renewed many friendships with grade school friends and made new ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Bertha, husband, Odell, and son, Tim, her sisters, Helen Holland, Avo Sue Allen and Viola Flud. Many more friends and family are waiting for her in heaven too!
She is survived by Sharon Levingston Miranda of Paso Robles, Debbie Levingston Thornton and Laura Levingston of Bakersfield and Kevin and Susan Levingston of Boulder Creek, CA.
Also surviving are grandchildren Jaimie and Johnny Patino, Anthony and Thea Hessler, Melissa Murphy, and Shaundra Lewis.
Great grandchildren Noah Milam, Isaiah and Raymond Patino, Matthew and Thomas Ramirez, and James, Carleigh, and Jeremiah Lewis.
Cora will be missed and remembered fondly by those that loved her. A special thank you to Calvin Kubo, MD and his staff for many years of loving care and kindness. Paradise Gardens and their staff for their love, care, and laughter over the past few years. Bristol Hospice for their kindness and care. She loved each one of you! RIP Mama
