Charletta Mae Higgs was born on September 2, 1945 and came face to face with her Lord and Savior at Sunrise on July 31, 2021. Charletta was born in Leonard, Texas. While her parents, Betty and Charles were Farm Laborers, Charletta was responsible for the care of her 7 younger siblings. On the day before her birthday in 1959, she married her sweetheart, Paul and together, Charletta and Paul shared 61 beautiful years of marriage. During their fourth year of marriage Paul joined the Army, while Charletta stayed behind working and raising "Baby Becky", as Charletta fondly called her. Upon Paul's return from the military they continued to work and build their family having Patty then later Paul Jr. While raising her children she furthered her education and pursued a career in real estate. One of her professional achievements was selling the highest priced property on the market in Coalinga.
In 1995, Charletta and Paul relocated to Bakersfield and purchased a ranch, her "Heaven on Earth", she fondly named it, Shalom Acres. Endless amounts of love and memories were made there with their 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Charletta was preceded in death by her first child, Pauletta Mae.
She is survived by her husband: Paul Higgs Sr.; her children: Becky, Patty and Paul Jr. (Shauna); her grandchildren: Paul (Cassie), Ashton (Brent), Miranda (Cyle), Paul III, Andrew (Kassie), Allie (Begutay), Hannah (Justin) and Erikah; and her great-grandchildren: Aleea, Faith, Carleey, Austin, Landon, Paul IIII, Emma, Zoey, Jack, Sawyer, Hope, Abby, Jaylee, Kaylee, Declan, Hensley.
A reflection of Charletta's life will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11am. With a graveside service to follow. She will be laid to rest in Hill of Valor.
