Caroline Hawkins September 7. 1942 - September 14, 2010 Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept., 18th, at 1 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park for Caroline Hawkins who went to join her beloved husband in eternal rest on September 14, 2010. Caroline was born on September 7, 1942 to Salvador and Lupe Reyes in Tulare, CA. She is preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Salvador Jr., and Ronald Reyes; and the love of her life, her husband, Cary (Hawk) Hawkins Sr. She leaves behind but not forgotten, son, Cary Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Mike Kitchen; along with 3 precious grandsons, Christopher Hawkins and Justin and Jason Kitchen. Other survivors include her mother, Lupe Reyes; sisters, Gloria Billins of Hemet, CA, Esther Reyes, Debbie Jones and Liz Davis of Bakersfield; brothers, Harry and wife Mary, and Bryan Reyes of Bakersfield, Michael and wife Leah Reyes of Tulsa, OK; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Caroline attended both McFarland and Bakersfield High Schools where she met and married her high school sweetheart. She was a true military wife who traveled extensively through Europe and various states before coming back home to Bakersfield. Caroline loved spending time with her family and friends whether it was a backyard cook-out, a spur of the moment weekend trip to Stateline with her cousins, Patsy and Eddie Telles, or watching a weekend of football with her grandsons. She was her grandson's biggest supporter in all their activities whether it involved sports, academics, hobbies or living their dreams as a member of the United States Air Force. You could always find her cheering from the sidelines and spending countless hours in the swine barn supporting them in their 4-H projects. Caroline will always be remembered for her enormous strength, will power, and determination. She was always someone you could count on and one to turn to for advice.
