Carmen was born on July 16, 1934 to Carmen and Lorenzo Marquez. She was 5 out of 7 siblings.
Carmen married and went on to have four beautiful children, Fernando Chavez, Josefina Chavez, Consuelo Hopkins and Carlos Chavez.
Carmen has five grandchildren, Fernanda Ramirez, Joel VanHorn, Christopher Chavez, Eddie Ramirez and Katherine Hampton. Carmen also had five great-grandchildren, PJ Gonzales, Brayden Blackburn, Hannah VanHorn, Addison VanHorn and Mia Chavez.
Carmen was the matriarch of her family and she enjoyed and valued nothing more than her family. From morning coffee dates, daily phone calls, weekly visits and lunch dates, to spending her holidays with her loved ones.
Carmen is predeceased by her parents Carmen and Lorenzo Marquez, her brothers Jesse Marquez, Lorenzo Marquez, Raul Marquez, Carmen Gomez and Mariana Feaver.
She is survived by her children, Fernando Chavez, Josie Chavez- John VanHorn, Consi Hopkins-Mark Hopkins, and Carlos Chavez; her grandchildren, Fernanda Ramirez, Joel VanHorn-Courtney VanHorn, Christopher Chavez-Erin Chavez, Eddie Ramirez-Brooke Ramirez, and Katherineann Hampton-Greg Hampton; her great grandchildren PJ Gonzales, Brayden Blackburn, Hannah VanHorn, Addison VanHorn and Mia Chavez, her siblings, Consuelo Villarreal, Fernando Marquez and Edith Lozano and lastly her many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at St. Francis Church on February 1, 2024 at 10am followed by the burial at Hillcrest Cemetery located at 9101 Kern Canyon Rd.
