Betty, also affectionately called Noni by many loved ones, was the seventh of fifteen children. She spoke so fondly of her childhood growing up in Denison, Texas.
Betty, an incredibly talented woman, was always eager to try new hobbies. She bowled several times a week in leagues and often traveled out of town with friends to compete in tournaments. She was never afraid to tackle projects around the house, from plumbing issues to building a brick barbecue and laying a stone patio in her own backyard. She could never sit still, and if she took a break, she would keep herself busy by knitting beautiful afghans for her grateful family and friends.
She is now reunited with her husband and partner of fifty years, Lee Mazzie. Together they enjoyed gardening, attending Renegade football games, bowling, and hosting large family gatherings. Betty often spent days in the kitchen preparing amazing meals, pies, canned fruits, homemade jams, and desserts of all kinds for the enjoyment of her family and many friends, who were like family.
Betty is survived by her beloved children Dean Coble, Bob Joyce, Joy Shearer, Roy Joyce, Tom Joyce, June Mazzei, Gary Mazzei, Melinda Elkins, and Melissa Hutton; grandchildren Shannon Caputo, Sherauna Provensol, Christopher Shearer, Penny Woolston, Lauren Joyce, Taylor Perez, Clifford Joyce, Megan Joyce, James Joyce, Jeff Brumfield, and Debbie Holland and Wesley Snoad of England; as well as 15 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Betty will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. Her Celebration of Life will start at 9:00 AM. With a graveside to follow. She will be laid to rest in Chapel Mausoleum along the side of her loving Husband Lee Mazzie.
