Barbara Jo Childers

Barbara Jo Childers born November 14, 1943, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in her home on May 19, 2015 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd "Doc" and Eileen Childers, Sister Beverly Nall, Brother Phillip Childers, and her son Raymond Smith.

Barbara is survived by brothers Lloyd "Butch" Childers (wife Ellen) and Dennis Childers (wife Julie); Sisters Debbie Layton (husband Don), Sharon Judd (husband Jim) and Marsha Landess (husband Cal), her daughters Denise and Liberti and an amazing 7 grandchildren, April, Heather, Arianna, Ashley, Faith, Gracie and Heaven, and one great-grand child Jaxon. There are also numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a loving mother, sister and grandmother. Barbara always filled the room with sunshine. She blessed us with her charismatic spirit and very outgoing personality. Barbara was not shy about sharing her honest opinion if asked, and sometimes even if not asked.

Barbara loved to do work in the legal field and was a "firecracker" of an employee. She made friends everywhere she went. She loved holidays with family and always made sure her home looked the part. One of her greatest accomplishments before she passed was to bring her family together and we couldn't be more thankful to her for that. She will be dearly missed and always remembered.

A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel at 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306 at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 28, 2015. There will be a Celebration of Barbara's life held following the service at the Four Season Lodge located at 10500 Toscana Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93306
