Tony Quashnick, 75, was born on November 19, 1938, in Eureka, SD to Pete and Ida Quashnick. He attended local schools in Mobridge, SD and in 1963 married his high school sweetheart Carlotta Bollinger. He started his career with General Tire and Rubber Company in Phoenix, AZ. After five years, General Tire transferred him to Bakersfield, CA where he and Carlotta raised their two sons. In 1985 he began a new career with the California Department of Corrections and retired in 2003.
Tony enjoyed his yearly family vacations along the California Coast and under the pines of Lake Tahoe. He looked forward to having dinners out, especially with his Friday night pizza group. Having his grandchildren around and being part of their many activities always made him happy. He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Tony battled for many years with Parkinson's disease and his journey in life ended peacefully on Friday, April 11th with his loving family by his side. He will be missed by his wife Carlotta of 51 years, his son Stephen Quashnick (wife Michelle), son Scott Quashnick (wife Kendra) and his two grandchildren, Cole and Kailee Quashnick.
Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Mortuary Tuesday, April 15, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. There will be a Memorial Service Wednesday, April 16, 10:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2525 Bell Terrace, Bakersfield, CA. A luncheon at Redeemer will follow the graveside service.
