With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Ray, known to so many as “Ray Bay,” who left this world on April 13th, 2025. A man as deep and steady as the waters he loved, Ray lived a life full of heart, humor, and quiet brilliance.
For 45 beautiful years, Ray was the devoted husband of Carolee—the love of his life and his anchor through calm and storm. Together, they built not just a home, but a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Their love was the kind that many search for and few are lucky enough to find.
Ray was the proud and loving father of Bonnie, Ray, and Jennifer. His family was his greatest joy, and he poured every ounce of his heart into raising his children with patience, strength, and endless love. Ray was an adoring "Pop-Pop" to Avery, Logan, Jason, Jamie, Oaklee and Zack. He was a guiding light, a builder of forts and dreams, a listener, a laugher, and the first to say “yes” when someone needed a hand. He will be remembered by his siblings, the late Philip, Bonnie and Florence. Loving pet owner of Butch, Mocha, Jake, Ace, and Reya
A true son of the Great South Bay, Ray was a bayman through and through. The salt air and gentle tides were part of his soul. Known far and wide as “Ray Bay,” he found peace and purpose on the water—fishing, boating, clamming, or just watching the waves roll in. The bay wasn’t just his livelihood—it was his sanctuary.
Ray was a man of many passions and even more talents. He had a gift for building—if you could dream it, Ray could make it real, often with just his hands and some scrap wood. He loved camping under the stars, feeling the rumble of a motorcycle beneath him, scratching off lotto tickets with a grin, and savoring a cold glass of chocolate milk like it was the finest wine.
He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor that could light up even the darkest day, and a generosity that knew no limits. Ray was incredibly smart, endlessly creative, and quietly brilliant—he saw the world through a lens all his own and made it better for the rest of us.
Those who knew Ray will never forget his warmth, his laughter, and the way he showed up—always—with love in his heart and a twinkle in his eye. His legacy lives on in the memories he gifted us, the lessons he taught, and the deep love he left behind.
He was truly one of a kind—and we were lucky to call him ours.
