Philip Russo was born on January 19, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York to Salvatore and Josephine Russo. He grown up in New York City with his parents, sister Marian and brother Sam. At the age of 13, Philip met the love of his life Angela. On April 14, 1943, he made her his bride. Philip and Angela went on to have three children- Salvatore (Regine), Philip Jr. (Cynthia), and Josephine (Charles). They also had nine grandchildren- Angela (Jeffrey), Gina (Brian), Christopher (Sheri), Monica (Frank), Philip (Dawn), Mark (Melissa), Steven (Tammy), Stephanie (Nicholas), and Elizabeth (Wesley). Additionally, Philip was blessed with 15 great grandchildren- Brianna, Matthew, Katelyn, Justin, Emily, Sophia, Zachary, Dylan, Lauren, Eva, Olivia, Timothy, Philip, Brayden and Grayson.
During his 93 years, Philip served in the United States Army, was employed by the post office, drove a taxi, owned a garment factory and fabric store, and worked at a funeral home as a pall bearer and driver. He enjoyed good food, nice cars, bowling, watching baseball, playing cards, garage sales, and old movies. Perhaps Philip is best known for singing, telling stories and spending time with his large, loving family.
