He helped out in school when I was unprepared for a class project.  He gave me some of his materials.  This left him less than what he needed, but he invented his own thing with what he had.

Several years ago I was talking with Paul about my daughter Emily. She was diagnosed with Sanfilippo syndrome, a genetic terminal disease that would slowly take her life. I told Paul that 20 families were coming to our tiny Long Island home to meet a girl from Ireland who was coming for a visit with her parents. They were coming from 17 different states. The families all have kids with Sanfilippo syndrome and most had never been to NY. I was concerned and trying to figure out how I could give these families a taste of NYC but didn't know how we could do it. Without hesitation, Paul said bring them to Central Park. Well we did just that. On a beautiful Sunday morning we made the trip over the Brooklyn Bridge, stopped at the WTC for a bit and then met Paul at the entrance to the park. He gave us a police escort up to the boathouse and we were able to enjoy a time together at Bethesda fountain. We all felt like "normal" families just enjoying a day in the park. Some of the kids in wheelchairs, others in modified strollers. A feat that most take for granted but for us seemed impossible if not for Paul. He even took our group picture. Some of the kids in the picture are no longer here with us but I know, like that day, there is a protector in the heavens watching over them. Rest easy brother. 

Retired Sgt. Sandra Draves, also my fiancee, reminded me that we enjoy the bacon at Peter Lugars so much because Paul told her you gotta try it and order extra, so that you have leftovers for breakfast the next day.  I remember him at countless details. He was always kind to us auxiliaries and treated us with respect.
I will never eat the bacon without thinking of you Paul and yes we will order extra!

Our deepest condolences 🙏💔 to the entire Federico family.  
I've been friends with Paul since Elementary School almost 45 yrs.  Through the years our families have bonded especially with Pauls' grandfather Antonino and his aunt Maria which broke my heart 💔 with their passings as well.
Paul was always quick to come to my friend Teresa Dabbene and my defense when other classmates would make fun of us. He was always kind and had a kind  heart ❤️.  
Later he went on to marry his JHS sweetheart Antonina and I remember how nervous he was to just ask Antonina out, but I remember having a conversation with him and I told him "Paul if you don't ask her you'll never know, besides what's the worst that can happen - she says no. If you don't ask her now you'll regret it."   A short time later I knew he asked her because they were inseparable. They've been together ever since JHS 162.  Pauls' love for Antonina has been endless ever since. Even though we've drifted apart and lost touch through the years as our adult lives takes the path that is meant for each one of us and unfolds. I never stopped thinking about everyone in the Federico family.  It was nice to reunite with Paul and Antonina through Facebook. 
When I heard of Paul's passing I was livid and to this day I go numb just the thought of Paul being gone in the prime of his life.

Dear Ann, Sabrina, Paul and the entire Federico family,
We want to express our heartfelt sorrow for your loss of Paul. He was such a wonderful and giving soul and we know that his absence however painful will someday be eased by the Love he leaves behind in your hearts. Paul loved you all, in fact his love was infectious and enjoyed by all who were blessed to know him. Pauls’ Love is not gone but will radiate from a higher place and he will watch over you the rest of your days. Paul and I and the rest of our conditions team had so many good times working in Central Park. We shared laughs, food, fun and stories of our families. Paul truly was such a giving person and he gave so much more than he ever took. So many of us were the recipients of his kindness. I will miss his humor, laughter and warm smile. Paul.....I have known you for a long time from Ridgewood.... Your father and my father were good friends.....In the 90s I never forgot that, we went to the beach with your wife Antonina. When we were on the sand it was very hot and it hurt my feet so you picked me up to walk me to the beach. He was so sweet.. what wonderful memories we had....I’m so very sorry for your loss Antonina and his children.. Detective Paulie always was welcomed like family in the Boathouse. I have worked there as a waiter for 15 years. He and Ruary would come by for a bite. Over time, I was amazed by his sense of humor. He got jokes it took others a few beats. I remember him laughing at my impressions of people I worked with. Such a warm, delightful guy. I am so sorry for his family. Rest my friend.

Paul and I have been friends for over 40 years since elementary school  Paul you will be deeply missed !!!

We cross paths with countless people in our lifetime but few have an impact on our journey. 

Paul was different! When our worlds crossed I immediately knew Paul and I were destined to become friends. 

From the very moment of our introduction it felt as if we had grown up together as children.

When Paul and my wife met it carried over to her. We laughed, ate and took friendly punches at each other.  

From me calling him Lou Costello, my wife calling him a little meatball or Paul asking me "have you found your other nut yet" or saying "James your wife has a thing for short italian guys"(huge smile on face right now thinking of him)

A void has been created in our universe and no one will ever be able to fill it. 

We will always remember his charm, smile, warm heart and love for steaks and chocolates. 

Oh yeah and his thing for taking  knives from the steakhouses we ate at, even though he'd deny it if he were here 🤔.

my thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful family .  I will always remember Paul as a hero and a man that went above and beyond for so many.  He was a family man a good man and friend. I will always remember our summer gatherings in my aunts back yard and our fun conversations. Paul was always full of opinions and easy to talk to. He was always very kind to My family and  my children and this is what I will always remember.  He would talk to my mom when she was sick and he really took the time to talk and listen.  He helped my daughter see one direction in Central Park and he  Hooked us up at the skating rink and zoo when we went with Sabrina  who was just a young teen. He helped my husband find his car when it was towed in the city . He was a problem solver and always willing to help when he could.  I am certain he has done countless of other good deeds that’s no one even knows about.  He helped so many he is definitely at the rainbow bridge to heaven. May he Rest In Peace in the hands of our lord .  My deepest condolences to the Federico family.  He will be missed. 

Thank you for giving me the gift of being my Godfather and making one of my dreams coming true when I was younger. I can not thank you enough for all of the endless laughs and love you have given me with so many precious memories that I will never forget and always cherish. I love you so much, Uncle Paul. Thank you for being everyones hero
