Joseph Giarratano, 90, of Bluffton, South Carolina, formerly of Long Island, entered into Eternal Life on August 22, 2023. Predeceased by his devoted wives, Prudy, in 1986, and Fran in 2020. Beloved father of Michael and his wife, Susan, Anna and her husband, Chris, Diana and her husband, Tony, and Anthony. Adored grandfather of Joseph, Eileen, Noah, Danielle, Stephen, Stephen, Tori, Toni-Ann, Michael, Antonio, Angelo, Rocco, and Luc. Cherished great-grandfather of Luca, Aidan, Owen, Lily, and Apollo. Predeceased by his dear sister, Marie. Proud US Army veteran who faithfully served his country in Germany from 1952-1954. Known by his nickname "Joe Shoes," which followed him from his early years in Brooklyn, Joe held many positions in his life, including shoemaker, bar owner, super and maintenance man. A man with an enormous heart and incredible generosity, Joe relished the time that he spent with friends at the bowling alley, but most of all, cherished his family and the time he spent with them with all of his heart. He will be forever loved and deeply missed by each life that he touched. A memorial visitation will take place at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 W. Main Street, Babylon, Friday, September 8, 2023, 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. Funeral service at the funeral home 11 am Saturday, September 9, 2023. Inurnment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
