Family and friends will gather in remembrance at the funeral home on Saturday, from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m., and then on Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon.
A Funeral Service will be offered on Saturday evening, at 8:00 p.m., officiated by Elder Sal Russo.
Mr. Joseph Gambino, a long-time resident of Copiague, Long Island, died Friday, January 17, 2014. He was 82 years old.
Mr. Gambino was born and raised in Copiague. He served in the United States Air Force. In 1953, he met his future bride, the former Christine Carpi. They married in 1954, and made their first home in Copiague, and here is where they raised their family.
Joe was a passionate sports fan, and an avid golfer who was close to playing Pro. He would spend most of his free time on the Black course at Bethpage. He also worked at Grummans for over 30 years, where he played on their varsity Golf team. He enjoyed making meat sauce and home made pizza and having Sunday dinner with his family.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Christine; his sons - Anthony and daughter-in-law, Deborah; and Joseph and daughter-in-law, Marisa; his grandchildren - Jenny (Sal) DiLeo, J.R. (Robyn) Tarantino, Jessica Tarantino and Marisa (Michael) Sambuco; and his great-grandchildren - Salvatore DiLeo, Lily Rosanne Tarantino and Luke Tarantino. Joe is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Rosanne Tarantino.
