I am so sorry to have just heard about John. My deepest sympathy to you all.  I knew John from Northrop Grumman.  He was such a pleasure to work with and I am honored to have known him.  Rest In Peace John!!! 

    I was so sorry to learn of the passing of John. My sincerest condolences to Jeannie and their family. I truly enjoyed working with John during my years at Grumman and Northrop Grumman. I especially enjoyed having the privilege of traveling, on lucky occasions for me, with him and the rest of the “Anderson Pack” on assignments for “the Grum.” Being with them made the pressures of producing results most enjoyable. John was a fine photographer who was always willing to please the requests of me, an oftentimes not sure of what he wanted writer. I'll forever picture his quick smile, easy laugh and quiet sense of humor. He was also always a gentleman and a gentle man, and that's how I'll remember him. Now he's back with Eddie, laughing, on the eternal assignment of joy. --John and Arlene

I looked forward to seeing my friend John at the LIYC each summer and continuing our friendly little Navy / USMC rivalry. There were lots of smiles and laughter and I'm glad we got to know each other. 

I met John in 1968, when I started work at Grumman in Bethpage.
He was so friendly, funny, and well liked in the company. 
We quickly became friends.

He was a professional all the way. Proficient as a still photographer in all formats, also 16mm film cameraman, and videographer.

John and I went on many road trips for Grumman, and he always came back with the perfect shot to feature our products in Aerospace Magazines and advertisements.
He would also photograph aircraft testing.
Shooting in the air from a chase plane or helicopter, or on the ground in a hangar, giving the engineers full quality coverage.

On one memorable trip, John and I spent four weeks in the Med on the Aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz, shooting carrier operations in stills, 16mm and 35mm Panavision, for presentations at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
He returned with pro material that was used for many years.

I wish that we could go on another Adventure together-
I will miss him very much!

I will always remember John from my days working at Grumman in the Photographic Services dept. John always was full of life and laughter.  When I think of John at work, I think of his other half Bruce Montgomery as they were always together conjoined at the hip- I think if Bruce stopped short John would  bump into him. They were a comedy team! Always telling great stories and not only viewing life through their lenses, they had great way to tel a story in such a way that everyone would gather around just to hear what they had going on or what their latest adventure brought their way. They had fun playing practical jokes on anyone who who fall for them- especially Marie Trimborn who was the first Female Photographer badge #50 at Grumman.  Marie was a nice lady but she gave them a lot of material to add to their live entertainment. Marie was a good sport & it was all in good fun in a very respectful way. But they were funnier than you could imagine.  When ever either one of them were around they turned the  vibe of the day around & made everyone laugh. Best friends! 
I remember our entire dept was together in the Movie Dept conference room watching the Launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger. We were all together as we watched the Shuttle take off and then explode into thin air right in front of our very eyes. We were all in shock with the rest of the world. These photographers actually took pictures of the space shuttle of parts of the shuttle since Grumman made the wings. They filmed  the test flights, This launch meant something to all of us. Now we would all be bonded by the fact that we were all together at that tragic moment  in time that the world saw on live TV. There was no joking that day we all felt that pain as we did today when we heard that John Boles left this world.  He made a difference to all who knew him. My sincere condolences to Jeanne and their children , Grandchildren and to John’s family  at the North Babylon FD. Rest in sweet peace.

John will always have a special place in my heart.  He helped me by making my son Christopher an Honorary Fireman at 7 years old before he passed on January 1978 of Leukemia.
He thought Mr Boles was super, and I do too.

There are so many fond memories, we traveled a lot together in our careers  and became a family.  John was a team player, Cameraman, Still Photographer, Gaffer, Grip a man with many talents and the person who would help anyone in need, he would give you the shirt off his back.

No expression of sympathy -no matter how deeply felt - can help much right now, John will never be forgotten.
