Joan Janetakis (nee Kantaros), 93, of West Islip, entered into Eternal Life on May 27, 2022. Predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Nicholas, in 1984. Beloved mother of Michael, George and his wife, Angela, and Helene and her husband, Zenny Tsouprakos. Adored Yiayia of Nicholas, Joanna (Sam), Ariana (Nate), Christopher (Kelly), Alexander, Zachary, and Gregory and Great-Yiayia of Sadie. Cherished sister of Nick Kantaros. Predeceased by her sisters, Alexandra Veres, Pauline Kostopoulos, and Helen Karalis. Also survived by her grand-dog, Oliver. An active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in West Babylon, Joan's strong independence and unwavering faith helped her courageously battle three bouts with breast cancer, which she fought gallantly with optimism and positivity with her warrior spirit. Always retaining her youthful spirit and zest for life, Joan relished the joy she received when her table was full of the ones she loved as they enjoyed the delicacies that she prepared, including her signature vegetable omelet. When the ones she loved could not be crowded around her table, talking with each of her grandchildren by telephone and the keen interest she took in the individual activities of each of them brought much joy to her in her older years. She will be forever loved and deeply missed by each of her children and grandchildren, and by each individual life she touched with her warm and loving presence.
